Position Summary

The Patron Services Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the circulation and customer service departments to ensure excellent service to library patrons. This position supervises frontline staff, responsible for scheduling and training, resolves patron concerns, and helps maintain a welcoming, efficient library environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise and support circulation and patron services staff
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and evaluating employees
• Coordinate department scheduling and workflow
• Provide excellent customer service and assist patrons with library accounts, materials, and services
• Resolve patron concerns and enforce library policies professionally and consistently
• Monitor circulation procedures and cash handling practices
• Prepare reports and maintain accurate records
• Collaborate with library administration and other departments on programs and services
• Assist with opening and closing procedures as needed
• Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, and library initiatives

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
• Experience in public library service or customer service environment strongly preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with staff and the public
• Proficiency with computers and library software systems
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment

Schedule

Full-time (35 hours per week) position including evenings and weekends as required.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range: Grade 3 on our salary schedule
Benefits include health, dental, and optical insurance, OPERS, paid sick and vacation leave, optional AFLAC insurance
