Job Summary:
Develop multimedia products and learning objects employing learner-centered design to help users navigate and understand the university library. Ensure interactive user engagement with library digital and web-based content and assist in identifying, creating, and integrating new technologies into the library’s instructional programming. Design, write, and edit complex web pages and templates, including those which incorporate media and forms.
Salary: $40,000
Essential Functions:
- Produce multimedia products and/or public facing web pages.
- Collaborate with library staff and faculty in the development of learning resources and produce digital components of online research guides, web pages, instructional videos, tutorials, and digital learning objects that can be used in and outside of the classroom.
- Responsible for maintenance of the library’s web presence.
- Assist in the promotion of library programs, outreach, and services utilizing technology/social networking resources to increase communication and foster rapport with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other constituents.
- Assist with the summative evaluation of all projects to ensure that multimedia is designed, developed, and produced according to the design specifications to produce efficient and effective learning.
- Monitor trends in at least one of the following: multimedia production, instructional design, curriculum development, performance improvement, project management, and content-specific certifications.
Education:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a relevant discipline such as Instructional Design, Communications, or Graphic Design.
Experience:
- Requires a minimum of 2 years’ experience in web and multimedia development, including web publishing and audio, video, and/or animation creation (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Audition).
- Knowledge of graphic design techniques, coding in HTML, and programming languages such as JavaScript required.
- Experience with content management systems such as dotCMS, LibGuides, WordPress, or SharePoint preferred.
- Knowledge in running video cameras, recording audio, and fundamentals of good video/photography lighting required.
- Familiarity with usability and accessibility guidelines and standards.
- Strong problem solving, customer service, verbal/written communication, technical, and project management skills required.
- Highly developed computer skills and ability to troubleshoot across a variety of systems required.
