Nelsonville Library Manager

The Athens County Public Libraries seek a full time (35 hours per week) Branch Manager for the Nelsonville Public Library in Nelsonville, OH. This position is responsible for library services delivered to patrons at the Nelsonville Public Library; including scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of library staff; planning and booking library programs based on patron and staff input; and formulating goals and objectives for the branch library within the scope of system policies.

The Nelsonville Library is the main branch of Athens County Public Libraries, housing the administrative offices, cataloging department, and outreach department. The manager is responsible for the public services of the library, with the other departments functioning independently from but alongside the public parts of the library. Nelsonville is a historic town, once a center of the coal mining industry in Southeast Ohio but now suffering from same the economic challenges that face the region. Many strides have been made to build on the tourist economy that continues to grow in Southeast Ohio, expanding from the Hocking Hills region just north of Nelsonville. The library is a central hub of activity for the city, hosting a large youth population, helping residents connect to needed resources, serving visitors to the area, and helping to coordinate among many community partners working to improve the lives of all residents.

Candidates must have a college degree at the bachelor’s level or equivalent library experience, and 2 years of professional experience in a library or education setting. Candidates holding an MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited institution are preferred. Salary begins at $20.00 per hour and is negotiable depending on qualifications.
