The Norwalk Public Library is looking for its newest team member!
Position Summary: (Pr/Marketing/Outreach Coordinator) Supports the library’s public relations, marketing, outreach, and promotional efforts with creativity and enthusiasm. This role involves crafting engaging messages, designing promotional materials, managing social media, and coordinating events to connect with our community. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with a flair for storytelling and a passion for public libraries. Some circulation duties and general patron assistance may be required.
Education and Experience:
A combination of education/experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Minimum 1 year experience in public relations, marketing, communications, or a similar environment. An associate degree or equivalent college coursework is highly preferred. Familiarity with social media platforms, graphic design tools (like Canva or Adobe), and Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
Characteristics of the Desired Applicant:
Must be 18 or older, have a passion for public libraries and community engagement. Must be an outgoing, friendly person with a great sense of humor and a knack for storytelling. Should be able to juggle quiet planning time with the buzz of public events. Comfortable with corny jokes, spontaneous photo ops, and brainstorming sessions fueled by coffee and creativity. Strong organization, public speaking, and design skills will contribute to being a successful team member.
The Good Stuff:
$15-$18 per hour
Vacation, sick leave, personal leave, paid holidays
OPERS and insurance options
25–30 hours per week; Variable schedule: must be available to work days, evenings, and Saturdays
