OLC Hosts Special Events for Library Trustees this Spring

Trustees are vital to the success of libraries, and we want to ensure they have the resources and information necessary to effectively fulfill their roles and responsibilities. 

Trustee Workshop:

This year, the OLC's Library Trustee Workshop will be presented in two parts. The Library Trustee Workshop Part One will be held on Saturday, March 8, from 10 a.m.–3:30 p.m. This event will provide the latest information on the state budget and the Public Library Fund (PLF) and offer a deeper understanding of library finances. The training will also address common legal questions faced by library trustees as well as the services that OLC offers to member libraries. This is an important workshop for new library trustees and those with years of experience. Trustees can attend the workshop in person at the OLC office in Dublin (Northwest Columbus) or online. The agenda is available on the OLC website. The workshop registration fee is $95 for trustees and staff of OLC Institutional Member Libraries (Non-member fee: $190).

Trustees are also invited to attend special programs this spring. OLC's Executive Director Michelle Francis and Jay Smith, OLC's Director of Government and Legal Services, will host trustee events at four locations around the state. There will be three dinner meetings and one lunch meeting.

• March 20, 2025 | Eastern Ohio Trustee Dinner, Guernsey County Public Library (Crossroads Branch), Cambridge

• April 3, 2025 | Northwest Ohio Trustee Dinner, Stone Ridge Golf Club, Bowling Green

• May 8, 2025 | Northeast Ohio Trustee Dinner, Embassy Suites Cleveland Rockside, Independence

Trustee Lunch Event:

• April 24, 2025 | Southwest Ohio Trustee Lunch, MidPointe Library, West Chester

The registration fee for each program is $50 for trustees and administrators of OLC Institutional Member Libraries (Non-member fee: $100).
